Retro Duo Twin Video Game System NES & SNES - White

Have you been dying to play your old NES or Super Nintendo games once again? Perhaps you can't find your system, maybe you have the system, but need all the cables to hook it up, or maybe you are just sick and tired of the *$@! thing never working properly?! With this brand new, top-loading system, you can play all of your favorite Nintendo AND Super Nintendo games once again on the same console, and the best part is, they will work every time!
Customer Review: retro system
at first the system didnt work so he said to send it back. He was able to resolve the problem in less than a week and the system works great, im able to play my old school nintendo games again
Customer Review: Decent System
I chose this over the FC Twin because I heard better reports about its compatibility with several games that I have. It seems to be true; the only game I've had any trouble with was duck hunt, since this console only has connections for SNES controls. The compatibility is great, and I haven't had any trouble with SNES/SFC games (yep, it's compatible with American, Japanese, and reportedly European games!). Every NES game I've tried has run, but that's where I get into some nitpicky bits. Double Dragon 2 had some issues with the status info on the bottom of the page "scrolling" along when I went forward in the level. I think that was just a problem with the cartridge being dirty though. Also, on NES games, the sound leaves something to be desired. The volume is uneven, and it's "scratchy"-sounding. Compared to the actual NES I have, you definitely lose something. Also, the game slots were rather "snug" when I started using the console. I had to brace it against the floor with one hand while pulling on the game with the other. When the game popped out, I saw that several of the connector pins in the console had gotten bent, and had to bend them back into place (with a small screwdriver). So, I guess that while my experience wasn't perfect, I'm happy with my purchase. It lets me get back into my retro gaming awesomeness! I think it's worth it, despite minor problems.

What is it like to work as a video game programmer? It is considered by many game-playing children to be a dream job. Is it actually as good as it sounds? It certainly is an interesting life. However, as with anything else on this planet, there are both positive and negative sides to working as a video game programmer.

For the last 7 years I have worked as a video game programmer at three development studios: Activision/Treyarch, Visual Concepts and DiscoPixel. I have published titles for the Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo consoles. This article is a summary of some of the perks and pitfalls that I have experienced through my work at these companies.

Perk #1 - Make Games!

This one is pretty obvious, but the biggest perk of working at a video game studio is that you will be MAKING games. You will be helping build the next great game that potentially millions of people will play and enjoy. There's an amazing satisfaction that stems from knowing that you helped make something big.

Perk #2 - Play Games!

In addition to testing and improving your current game every day, you'll also be playing games made by other companies. There are few jobs out there where sitting down and playing a newly released console title is considered research. Companies definitely want you to stay on top of the technology and features of new games, and the only way to do this is by playing lots of games. At the companies I've worked at, I've never seen anyone get reprimanded for playing video games during the day.

Perk #3 - Independence

A great aspect of working as a video game programmer is the independence you are given. It is rare that you'll have a manager breathing down your neck or double checking everything you do. To get hired into a development studio you need to already have excellent programming skills, so you are given a lot of freedom to make many decisions yourself. You may be assigned a general task to complete, but how that actually should be done, as well as how long it should take, are often up to you.

Provided that you can get your work done, the companies I have worked for generally seemed to be very willing to let me work on my terms. When I was tired or bored or lazy I could go play a game or relax somewhere without anyone complaining. Happy employees with improved morale make better games.

Perk #4 - Fun Office Environment

Everybody that works at a video game studio has one thing in common: they love games. If they didn't love playing games they would never have been hired to make them. Because of this, the office setting often has fun or quirky things anywhere you look. Many people bring strange new objects to show off or play with during the day.

Most video game studios have lots of games and toys lying around to keep its employees entertained. A few things that I have come across at various studios: Arcades with free coin-op games, foosball tables, ping pong tables, razor scooters, board games, action figures, puzzles, daytime basketball games and giant stuffed animals.

Coming to the office still means you're going to work, but there's no reason why it can't also be fun.

Perk #5 - Free Soda + Snacks

This perk is maybe not important to everyone, but it's nice to know that you won't go hungry working at a video game studio. I've never met a video game company that hasn't offered free soda and snacks as part of the benefits of working there. I suppose being loaded up on caffeine and sugar helps boost productivity. During long days at the office, companies will typically provide free dinner as a thank-you for staying late. One company I worked for served fully catered meals from assorted restaurants every night for many weeks.

Pitfall #1 - Long Work Hours

Making video games is a lot of work. The amount of time needed to make the latest game seems to be growing exponentially. Development teams continue to get bigger and bigger every year, yet somehow the amount of work per person doesn't seem to get any smaller. Games are very complicated. Also, the nature of games is that they must be fun, which is not always so easy to accurately pencil into a schedule. A lot of experimentation is needed, especially with new game concepts.

Before a milestone and especially a few months before a game is released, the work day will be very intense. The work has a way of very quickly piling up. New features and old bugs suck away all of your time. Working long nights or weekends is not uncommon. Fortunately, employees generally care about the games that they are making, and their passion helps energize them through these occasional long shifts.

The stress can get overwhelming, too. At one company I had a giant stack of bug reports waiting for me on my chair when I came into the office. I would work all day, scrambling to fix the bugs as quickly as possible, working on full blast all day and night. I'd go home for a couple hours of sleep, but when I'd return to work there would be a new, even larger stack of bug reports waiting for me.

Typically after a project has shipped there will be a period of downtime where the employees can get a chance to relax and recover. The work load will suddenly significantly reduce. One company gave bonus vacation time after a project shipped, and another put employees "on call" for about a month, in which they only had to come to the office if there was some kind of problem. It's nice to know that your long work hours do not go unnoticed.

Pitfall #2 -Choosing What to Work On

Working on your own video games in your free time is a lot of fun. You get to choose exactly what game and tasks you want to work on, focusing only on the fun stuff. Anything boring can be safely ignored since the only audience is you. Unfortunately, this is not the case for large video game studios. There are many tasks to be completed, some of which are not too glamorous. Fixing console manufacturer standards violations or building data tools is not very exciting, but it still needs to be done by someone in order to ship the final product.

These tasks typically are given to people who are just starting out in the video game industry, perhaps as a rite of passage, but probably just because nobody else wants to do them.
In addition to the possibility of working on less glamorous tasks, you could be assigned a project that you are not fully interested in. Typically the company will let you work projects that interest you, but this is not always possible. A particular project could be falling behind schedule and it needs a few more employees to fix some bugs or add some new features. Or, the project you are interested in already has enough workers.

I think that the passion of the employees working at a video game studio is crucial to the success of that game. If you are not excited about what you're working on, it will show up in the game you're creating. To avoid any misunderstandings or letdowns, before deciding to work at a particular company, it's important to find out what game you will be working on in addition to what tasks you will be assigned.

Pitfall #3 -Pay Not as Good (Maybe?)

I've heard from a few people that the pay working as a video game programmer is not as good as the pay working at more conventional companies. Business database programmers, for example, could be earning more money. This could be true. However, choosing your profession is not just about the pay. You spend a large percentage of your life at your job. Money is not everything. Choosing something that you enjoy is important, too.

I thought the pay at the companies I have worked at was very reasonable. There is also a large potential upside from royalty checks coming from a game that sells well, which has sometimes turned out to be significant. You will definitely not be living as a pauper if you get a programmer job at a video game company.

Conclusion

I hope that this article has been helpful towards learning a little bit about working as a video game programmer. As with everything in life, there are pros and cons to this profession. If what you have read sounds good to you, I hope you find that dream job making the next great bestselling game.

Customer Review: Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened
This was a lot of fun ( and enough of a challenge )to play this game. It's not the type that you'd want to re-play - at least not for quite a while. There is no way you could play this game without a "walkthrough" which can be downloaded through some googling effort. The puzzles are far too obtuse to be solved intuitively. Even with the "walkthrough", a certain degree of intelligence is required. The main thing that the buyer should know, and be "OK" with, is that this version is the original version (not the RE-MASTERED version) and hence is not equipped with the built-in help and clue system. That is why, of course, this item was so cheap. Overall, well worth the money, and highly recommended.
Customer Review: Eh.
The title describes my reaction to this game. I enjoyed playing it, BUT I also could have done without it. It was a little too dark and sinister for me with gory scenes, and cultish themes. Of course, I expected that with the M raiting. The graphics are not too great, but they do. The story line is interesting and most of the puzzles are challenging, except that (as other reviewers have mentioned) the game is way too linear. The most annoying part about that was that I could not pick up certain items I needed later until I recieved a certain clue. And the linear play made the puzzles less challenging because the cursor basically guided you in what to do next.

There are many videogame consoles in the market and the well known consoles are Xbox, playstation, Wii, etc. Xbox is a designed by Microsoft, which is the only US based company to develop and manufacture videogame consoles. Xbox 360 came to the market in the year 2005. Xbox hardware had three different kinds of motherboard setups like xenon, zypher and falcon.

MOTHERBOARD PROBLEM

The Xbox 360 has been reported with hardware failures all over the world. Many Xbox users have complained about the hardware failure and overheating problems. Microsoft stated problems arose only with the latest type of Xbox motherboard such that the xenon based motherboards and are reported with the problems and serious errors.

RED RING OF DEATH

One of the major error occurred in Xbox 360 is the red rings of death also known as RRoD. E 74 is the error displayed on the screen when your hardware has some problem in it. This error is related to the overheating of the console and leads to RRoD. When this error occurs your Xbox 360 becomes standstill and you cannot proceed forward with that.

PROBLEMS WITH DESIGN

The reason for failure goes to the base of the product, which means the design. Lack in design and testing has created the problem. Also the use of components inside the motherboard whose quality was very poor as Microsoft has not tested it to the fullest extent the working condition of these components.

WARRANTY

As a result of these complaints Microsoft will repair the consoles that come under the warranty periodfree of cost. But, for those consoles whose warranty period are over has to repair them by paying suitable money. Adding to this you need to wait for few weeks to few months to get the console back.

SOLUTIONS

There are alternate solutions available for this now. You don't need to spend more money and need not wait for weeks. Here is better solution for the red light problems. You can fix your Xbox 360 in just an hour with the help of Xbox repair videos. These guides come with a video tutorial that will help you to get a clear idea on how to repair your Xbox yourself.

X CLAMP REMOVAL

The guide will be explaining how to remove the X clamps from the motherboard and will show you how to fix the heat sinks without them. The motherboard consists of two processors, one the CPU and the other GPU. Both the processors will have their own heat sinks to cool them. The problem here is that these heat sinks do not provide enough air flow to the processors and causes overheating that in turn results in the RRoD. Hence by removing these X clamps we can provide more air flow to the processors. So we need to work on the frame which holds the entire motherboard so that the heat sinks are fixed without the X clamps.

Many Xbox users have tired this method and it has found that 99% of the Xbox 360 can be repaired successfully. This method is very cheap and you are repairing it by yourself so that your console gets ready within one or two hours and you can start playing on the same day.

Hell's Kitchen [Game Download]

When baseball fans feel that a ballpark is a shrine rather than just a place to watch a baseball game, then there must be something about the park that makes it so great. Whether its the view, the enthusiasm, or the game itself, not many activities beat watching an intense game at a place you love. If you want to watch a game where the prices are good and the crowds are even better than these are the parks for you.
First is Miller Park in Milwaukee. With an average ticket price of just $16.86 fans are sure to get a bang for their buck. The building itself almost surreal with its brick faade and steel arches looming above, which makes the park seem as if it would be seen in a videogame rather than in real life. If youre a fan who likes tailgating then this is the place for you. With the largest tailgating scene in all of MLBs located here, its hard not to be friendly with other fans.

PNC Park, home of the Pittsburg Pirates comes in second place with an average ticket price of $17.08 and more than 36,000 parking spaces available near the park. Not only does the park sell tasty concessions but an Outback Steakhouse is located in left field where fans can enjoy the game while enjoying a great meal. Located in right field is a kids section with a mini PNC Park and multipurpose play set for kids ages 5-10. With its throwback design and up-to-date conveniences, this is a park almost any fan will enjoy.

Ranked third in fans opinions is Coors Field home of the Colorado Rockies. An average ticket price of $14.92 gives the fans the ability to watch a game without putting a strain on their bank accounts. For fans who like to enjoy a beer or two while watching the game, located in the park is Sandlot Brewery with a wide variety of brews and behind the bullpen is an interactive area with everything from tee-ball cages to a fantasy broadcast booth. Even if you dont get a good seat in the park you will still have a good line of sight for the game and fans sitting along the first base line there is an excellent view of the sunset over the mountains during evening games.

Number four on the list of best ballparks is Angel Stadium home of the Anaheim Angels. This park has an average ticket price of $17.36 and plenty of handicapped accessible seating. Angel Stadium has a program that allows wheelchair-bound fans to watch batting practice at lower level seating areas. Plus theres even a 400 seat picnic area beyond center field for fans who like to bring their own snacks. With a new owner whose first priority is fan experience, the park is sure to make you want to be there. Fans support teams in this park so well that people leaving with hoarse throats is not uncommon.

Turner Field, home of the Atlanta Braves is the ballpark that comes in fifth. With an average ticket price of $17.51 and plenty of other attraction in the park fans get what they pay for. Scouts Alley in left field allows fans to practice their batting and pitching with the interactive exhibits. If youre a fan with a hearing problem, this is the park for you thanks to the audio amplification devices offered. Fans at this park are able to really get riled up when the tomahawk chop comes out. And finally the new high definition scoreboard in the middle of the park allow fans to have a great view of the score, inning, count, and everything else they need to know.

Bob is with EZ Ticket Search - providing premium seating in the secondary market to sports, concerts, broadway events and MLB Tickets. Visit BallParkOnline.com to read more about MLB Baseball Parks.

Giving holiday presents for kids and teens, regardless of gender, might not be as easy as you think. Remember that Christmas gift ideas that have worked for you when you were younger may not be applicable today. For one, kids and teens of today have different hobbies and interests from when you were in their age. In order to get an idea of what types of gifts the young generation might like, you should probably surf the Internet or read magazines for their particular age group. It may also be best to just talk to them to know what their hobbies, sports, and interests are before you head to the mall or click on an online shop.

Toys are still the best option for boys and girls that are under nine or ten years old. Stuffed toys, dolls and even play sets are usually what young girls like. However, it would be best to know what character they prefer or what type of movies and television programs they watch so that you do not have to rack your brain just to come up with great Christmas gift ideas.

As for little boys, some of the things you might want to consider are train sets, super hero figures, vehicles, and even comic books. Aside from toys, other useful things that you can give young children include educational materials, such as coloring books, dictionaries, board games, and even puzzles. Again, it would really be great if you spend some time asking the kids about their likes and dislikes so that whatever you are going to give them will not go to waste. Imagine how it would appear if you give a dinosaur toy to a kid that is afraid of big reptiles.

Coming up with cool Christmas gift ideas for teenage boys is not really as hard as you think. More often than not, the latest gadgets and videogame consoles are what they prefer. Anything that would make them look cool will surely touch their hearts. If this is too expensive for you, giving them perfume or just about anything that would enhance their looks and mojo are also welcomed.

Teenage girls are also not that difficult to please. Aside from makeup kits, accessories, and perfume, anything that glitters will surely be appreciated. Since girls at this age want to feel like grownup women, Christmas gift ideas such as spa kits, beauty products or even sleep mists and accessories will be much appreciated.

Need a holiday gift? Everyone has been stressed and restless with the economy this year, so get them something they can really use. Give the gift of a good night's sleep at http://www.ScentToSleep.com

Nintendo DS Game Card Case 6 - Black

Protect your games from dust and scratches with this Nintendo DS Game Card Case. It compactly stores up to 6 DS Game cards.

Customer Review: Pretty pink durable case...
Purchased this pink case for our two little girls recently so that they could be responsible for their little growing collection of DS games. The pink is nice and pale and the case is very durable and it has been a month so far. The case holds six cartridges as mentioned above and it is slim & compact that it can be carried in your purse or shirt pocket if necessary. We like the case because it eliminates carrying around the bulky cases that they arrive in and it also keeps hair and debris out. My only true gripe would be the fact that it is rather difficult to pry the cartridge out of it's respective slot after placement. My daughters can't at this point and always run to us. I guess it is better to be stiff than loose; at times I feel as if I am going to snap the game. Recommended accessory!
Customer Review: Nintendo DS Game Card Case
I love these cases! They hold 6 games back to back and you can see the game through the case, so if you have multiple games (which I'm sure you do), you don't have to open individual cases to try and find the game your looking for.

Comic book and graphic novel criticism is rarely found outside of niche publications such as Wizard, or the many fan-driven sites that litter the web. Occasionally a mainstream newspaper will publish an article on the medium as a whole, or offer a retrospective on an under appreciated author, usually Alan Moore; but for the most part it is rare to come across comic reviews in any shape or form. I used to believe that this was simply down to media prejudice - and largely it probably is - but when I decided to dedicate my precious spare time to the joys of graphic novel criticism, I soon learnt that the "funny books" were far from the easiest medium to offer an objective evaluation of.

In the era of Stan Lee, comic plots rarely extended beyond an issue. The Fantastic Four would thwart Doctor Doom's plans for world domination and still be home in time to laugh at the Thing's working class idiosyncrasies. While this limited the writers somewhat, it did allow for episodic adventures that were entirely self-contained. Casual readers could pick up the occasional issue and never be far behind the soap opera antics of their favourite characters. Of course, pre-80s comics were considered an enjoyable but disposable pastime. Most were binned after being read, and forgotten soon after.

Naturally, things have changed. Sequential art is now accepted as an art form, though whether such an acceptance entails any benefits is another matter altogether. The contemporary comic book has become a far slower affair, with the sort of storyline that would have filled a single issue back in the sixties now stretched across several. While this makes for far superior graphic novel narratives, it does alienate the casual reader, and leaves the regular collector dangling on tenterhooks before the serial has had time to resume. More importantly, this approach to serial storytelling has rendered the reviewing of individuals comic issues a little pointless - who reviews the first half of a film, or a television drama only up to the first commercial break?

Of course, we could leave the reviews until our favourite series are collected in trade paperback format, but this approach is equally problematic. Many series have reached double digit number of volumes. Should each volume of The Sandman, The Walking Dead, or Y: The Last Man be reviewed individually, or should the series be critiqued as a whole? If comic book critics were to wait until a series had concluded before laying down their position, then very few new books would get the endorsement that quality appraisal offers.

Of course, there are no answers here. The comic medium will continue to suffer the prejudice of literary circles, and isolate those with only a passing interest. But I love the fact that any individual can have his say on the internet, and would rather be guided by the opinions of another comic enthusiast than the tepid, uninspired drivel from a mainstream film or videogame magazine that has temporarily jumped aboard the superhero zeitgeist. With or without mainstream attention, the comic book appears to be stuck comfortably in its niche. Is that such a bad thing?

Carl Doherty occasionally assumes the guise of a freelance writer specialising in cultural nonsense of the pop and junk varieties. Nintendo DS Lite Game Traveler Purse - Purple

Customer Review: I like this purse
I like this purse. It's smaller than I thought but it still fits what I wanted to put in there (DS Lite, charger, games, cloth, extra stylus, headphones). It doesn't really fit anything else.

It is an unfortunate fact, but the world is an increasingly dangerous place. Watching the evening news is enough to send some people into hiding or make them too afraid even to live normal lives. However, there are things you can do to help with your home security, simple measures you can take, to increase the safety of yourself, your loved ones, and your property.

As frightening as it is to think about, home invasions are on the rise. Burglars don't always wait until you are on vacation to break into your home these days either. You need to remain vigilant, and the first thing you should do is make sure you always lock your windows and doors - even when you are home. This goes for your garage door too.

Be careful where with your keys as well. Don't hide them under the mat or under a rock. These are the first places that a thief will look. Also, don't hang key holders close to windows. Again, professional thieves know to look for these and can get the keys to your house, your car, and the safe all at once. The very last thing you want to do is make the criminal's job easier.

Don't give extra keys to friends and neighbors either. While you may trust them implicitly, there is always the chance of them losing the key. While people don't like to hear it, there is also the possibility of the friendship falling apart. While this won't usually result in any kind of theft, you don't want to put your family at risk.

First, take a look at your home and your routine through the eyes of a thief. Stand outside and look at your house, condo, or apartment. Check to make sure that none of your valuables is on display, such as flat screen televisions sitting in front of an open picture window, or laptops visible on the kitchen table through a side window. Next, be careful where you throw your trash. Boxes for hard to get videogame consoles, computers, and televisions sitting in your garbage or recycling bin is a surefire clue to any thief that may be targeting your street or complex. Leaving trash like this in plain sight is akin to swimming in shark-infested waters - you're just asking for trouble. Take the time to cut the boxes apart and place them in black garbage bags along with other trash. It might seem a bit excessive, but home security is something you can't take lightly.

Be sure also to vary your routine, lest a thief know exactly when you go to work, when you go to the gym, and when you take your dog for a walk. Do your best to become unpredictable to any potential thieves that may be watching your house.

If there is a Neighborhood Watch, think about joining it if your schedule permits. Statistics show that areas with a Neighborhood Watch have lower crime rates than areas without. Finally, you are going to want to invest in home alarms. There is nothing like a good, reliable home security system to give you piece of mind.

Customer Review: TERRIBLE!!! Please don't buy!!!
The gameplay is boring! and get's slow if many enemies on the screen at the same time. Also, when fighting a BOSS, the scenes suddenly cuts to the movie for the next level without having totally defeated him yet. In some cases, the life bar had almost a 15% left. TERRIBLE GRAPHICS!!!,almost insulting for a 2007 release. Overall sounds are simple, mediocre. Unlockable features suck!!! Waste of time and money. It is a MUST-NOT-BUY!!
Customer Review: not the worst game ever
i really liked the movie, so i go and get the game for my psp. i actually played the whole game thru to the finish. the story of the game has nothing to do with the story of the movie, not that i really cared for the story of the movie. this whole game is basically, turn into a robot blow up other robots or objects, turn into vehicle go to next object to blow up. the graphics are horrible, gameplay leaves you wanting more. this is not the worst game i have ever played, but not worth retail price i payed of 39.99, luckly i finished it in a bout a week sold it on amazon got about 80% of my money back. maybe not bad for a rental if you have nothing else to play

If you are selling on eBay or thinking about selling there, it is important to find the best selling items on the site. Those sellers who make a great income on the popular auction site do so by selling products that buyers are searching for, rather than selling just any product picked up for a cheap price.

The secret to making great profits selling on eBay is with the products you sell on the site. The average product found on eBay sells 33% of the time. In other words, one out of three auctions end with the item sold, and two out of every three auctions end without a sale.

The hot, lucrative products that are popular with buyers have a much higher sell-through rate than average, and some are as high as 90%. Listing products with a high selling rate can skyrocket a seller's profits, and that's why it is always best for sellers to stick with popular products in profitable niches.

A great way to find the best selling items on eBay is to use the completed items option in the advanced search feature. When searching the completed listings, unsold items appear in red and sold products appear in green, so you can tell at a glance whether the niche is a popular one or just average.

Currently some of the most popular products selling on the site include videogame systems, games and accessories, and other new techie products such as the iPod, iPhone, and digital cameras. These items can be found on eBay Pulse as some of the most popular keyword searches.

Besides the popular products that appear on eBay Pulse, there are other popular niches with products that do not appear on the Pulse. These items are not well known to the public at large, but they are very profitable to some sellers who know about them.
